Ramadaniyat 13: Colorful Vegetables for Better Health – Quinoa Salad with Grilled Sweet Potatoes

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “so pray to your Lord to bring out for us what the earth produces – its herbs and its cucumbers and its corn and its lentils and its garlic and its onions.” (Al-Baqarah: 61)

Vegetables contain many nutrients and antioxidants. So whenever you add new varieties of colored vegetables, the greater the benefits. Antioxidants play a role in protecting the cells of the body from harm and thus contribute to better health, especially during Ramadan. So, eat more fresh and refreshing vegetables and fruits in your salads, soups, and main dishes.

 

 

Here’s a recipe a healthy quinoa salad recipe with sweet potatoes that contains many vegetables.

 

Ingredients:

2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into small cubes

2 tablespoons of olive oil

Sea salt and fresh black pepper, as desired

A cup of quinoa

2 cups of water (or chicken or vegetable broth)

1/2 a cup of fresh spinach leaves, cut large pieces

A large avocado, cut into small pieces

1/3 of a cup dried cranberries

 

Salad Dressing Ingredients:

4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

1/2 a teaspoon of dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 chopped garlic clove

1/2 a cup of olive oil

A Juice of 1 large lemon

1 tablespoon and a 1/2 dijon mustard

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 425 ° (220 ° C). Place sweet potatoes on an oven tray and add olive oil, salt, and pepper as desired. Mix them and then put the oven tray in the oven for 15 minutes, turn the potato and leave it for 20 minutes or until it is cooked.

Wash the quinoa and cook it. Combine quinoa with water (or broth) in a small pot. Mix and boil for 15 minutes or until the quinoa is completely absorbed.

Then turn off the stove and leave the quinoa covered for 5 minutes. Remove the cap and fluff the quinoa with a fork.

Place the cooked quinoa and sweet potato in a large bowl and leave to cool.

Add the vinegar, dried mustard, dried thyme, dried basil, garlic, salt and pepper as desired in a small bowl. Add olive oil gradually while whisking, then add lemon juice.

Ramadaniyat 12: How To Avoid Blood Sugar Levels from Fluctuating – Delicious Chocolate Dessert – without sugar

If you suffer from headache and dizziness due to lack of blood sugar during the fasting period, it is recommended to start breakfast by eating one to three dates to adjust the level of sugar in the blood. Ramadaniyat 11: Exercise Is A Blessings – Quinoa Salad Recipe with Vegetables

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fast (for some days) and give up fasting (for some days); pray and sleep, for your body has a right on you, and your eyes have a right on you.” (Narrated by Bukhari)

Some people tend to lack mobility during Ramadan, especially women. To get rid of extra calories and to stay fit, it is advisable to exercise daily, two hours after Iftar to allow some time to digest food.

  • ⅓ cup pomegranate juice

  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion

  • ¾ of a teaspoon of salt

  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Preparation

Dijon mustard: Add all dry ingredients together and mix them. Add the remaining ingredients and mix them, then cover them with plastic wrap and put them in the refrigerator for 8 hours. Mix in a blender and mix until desired. Place in a small, tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks before use.

Salad: Put quinoa, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, onions, feta cheese, chickpeas, parsley and olives in a large bowl.

Dressing: Mix all ingredients well in a bowl. You can keep the dressing in the refrigerator for a week. Pour the mixture over the quinoa and mix it evenly, then sprinkle the parsley and enjoy it with your family.

The Arabs said: “Eat while you desire the food and stop eating while you desire the food.”

Some people eat a large amount of food throughout Ramadan, which leads to weight gain.

Anas said, “I went with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to eat the food. He served barley bread and soup with pumpkin in it. I saw the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, going after the pumpkin around the dish, so I have always liked pumpkin since that day.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari)

Ingredients:

  • Tablespoon olive oil

  • Large onion chopped

  • Two large pieces of carrots cut into thin slices

  • Three chopped celery stalks

  • Small zucchini cut into cubes

  • Three garlic cloves minced

  • Half a teaspoon of dried thyme

  • Four cups of vegetable broth, low-sodium

  • Four glasses of water

  • Half a cup of oatmeal

  • Bay leaf

  • A quarter cup of fresh lemon juice

Preparation:

The grace of food is one of the greatest blessings of God Almighty. There is no life for man without food. And the Almighty said on the tongue of our Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him): “And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.” (Al ٍShu’ara : 79)

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that he said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) never criticized any food (he was invited to) but he used to eat if he liked the food, and leave it if he disliked it. (Al Bukhari)

When invited to Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan, while the family, loved ones and friends are gathered at the Iftar table, some might have unpleasant behaviors in front of the family or friends while eating.

Pay attention to your actions and follow the etiquette of food. So it is the etiquette of food to take only the right amount of food and leave what you do not like without embarrassing the host. Also, the host might end up throwing your leftovers in the trash, and it is iniquity.

Ingredients

  • Two tablespoons olive oil

  • Garlic, minced

  • Four cups of eggplant cubed (with peel)

  • Teaspoon salt

  • A cup of red sweet pepper

To quench your thirst, choose the water first. Be sure to drink plenty of water during Ramadan, at least eight glasses of water per day. Drink a small amount intermittently between Iftar and Suhur in order to avoid any discomfort or puffiness.

Try to consume a small amount of Ramadan drinks like Aljlab and Qumaruddin. Although they are a good source of sugar and vitamins, they are very rich in calories.

If you like to drink coffee during the holy month of Ramadan, it is best to reduce the amount of coffee you drink two weeks before the beginning of Ramadan to avoid having headaches and feeling fatigue. Then enjoy a cup of coffee, but after an hour or two of eating a balanced and healthy Iftar. Avoid eating foods that contain a large proportion of salt and hot spices.

Time management is a sign of excellence and the secret of success in life, especially in the month of Ramadan. Many people have bad habits during this precious month; they sleep long hours and become lazy, which causes weight gain. Often this happens because of the damage caused by excessive eating.

They also dedicate long hours of their time at night and day to watch various Ramadan programs and series. And refrain from performing prayers and doing good deeds and they waste on them the most honorable times with useless issues. We must seize life and work in obedience to Allah Almighty before it is too late.

In the hadith: “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your riches before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

  • Two cups plain yogurt

The family should share it with relatives and friends or distribute it to those in need. The relief of the needy is one of the signs of virility, honor, and the essence of worship.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The food of one person is enough for two, and the food of two people is enough for four, and the food of four people is enough for eight” (narrated by Muslim.)

Ingredients

  • Three cups of almond flour

  • Half a cup of almond butter or plain butter

  • A can of organic pumpkin

  • Two-thirds cup honey

  • Six eggs

  • One spoon baking soda

  • Half a teaspoon of nutmeg

  • Half teaspoon ginger powder
