Ramadaniyat 6: How to Overcome Thirst in Ramadan – water, Cucumber, lemon and mint refreshing recipe

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “We made every living being out of water? Will they, then, not believe (that We created all this)?” (Al-Anbya 30)

And the Almighty says (interpretation of the meaning): “and We send down from the sky pure water.” (Al-Furqan: 48)

To quench your thirst, choose the water first. Be sure to drink plenty of water during Ramadan, at least eight glasses of water per day. Drink a small amount intermittently between Iftar and Suhur in order to avoid any discomfort or puffiness.

Try to consume a small amount of Ramadan drinks like Aljlab and Qumaruddin. Although they are a good source of sugar and vitamins, they are very rich in calories.

If you like to drink coffee during the holy month of Ramadan, it is best to reduce the amount of coffee you drink two weeks before the beginning of Ramadan to avoid having headaches and feeling fatigue. Then enjoy a cup of coffee, but after an hour or two of eating a balanced and healthy Iftar. Avoid eating foods that contain a large proportion of salt and hot spices.

 

Water with Lemon Juice, Cucumber and Mint — A Refreshing  Recipe that Reduces the Feeling of Thirst.

Ingredients

  • Eight glasses of water

  • One lemon, sliced

  • A small cucumber cut into slices

  • A bunch of fresh mint leaves

  • Ice

 

Preparation

In a pitcher, add water, lemon, cucumber and fresh mint. Allow to cool for 2 to 24 hours. Serve with ice. Enjoy it with your family.
